Refund Policy

This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions regarding refunds for donations, event registrations, ticket purchases, and other payments made to AboutFace-USA^®. We are committed to transparency and clarity in all our financial dealings and have established this policy to protect both the organization and our donors, participants, and event attendees.

By donating or purchasing tickets for any AboutFace-USA events, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms set forth in this policy.

Donation Refund Policy

1.1 General Policy on Donations

All donations made to AboutFace-USA are final and non-refundable, except in cases of error or fraud. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on donations to support our mission of providing mental wellness resources and services for veterans and their families. Once a donation is made, the funds are put to immediate use in our programs, and as such, we are generally unable to offer refunds.

1.2 Refund Eligibility

Refunds for donations will only be considered in the following circumstances:

Error in Donation Amount: If you accidentally donated the wrong amount (e.g., an extra zero was added).
Duplicate Donations: If you mistakenly made two or more identical donations.
Fraudulent Activity: If you believe a donation was made fraudulently using your payment information.

1.3 Requesting a Refund

To request a refund for a donation, you must contact us at donations@aboutface-usa.org within 30 days of the donation date. Please provide the following information to assist with processing:

Your full name and contact details.
Date of the donation and donation amount.
Payment method (credit card, PayPal, etc.).
Reason for requesting the refund.

Once we receive your request, we will review it and respond within 7 business days. If your request is approved, the refund will be processed through the original payment method within 10 business days.

1.4 Recurring Donations

Recurring donations (monthly, quarterly, or annual contributions) can be modified or canceled at any time. To adjust or cancel a recurring donation, please contact us at donations@aboutface-usa.org or log into your account on our donation platform. Refunds will not be issued for recurring donations already processed.

1.5 Tax Considerations

If a donation refund is issued, you may not claim the donation as a tax deduction for income tax purposes. If you have already claimed the donation, you are responsible for updating your tax filings accordingly.

1.6 Application of Donations

AboutFace-USA reserves the right to apply donations to the areas of greatest need, as determined by our Board of Directors. While we will make every effort to honor donor requests regarding specific programs or initiatives, we cannot guarantee that all donations will be restricted to the purpose designated by the donor.

Event Refund Policy

2.1 General Policy for Event Tickets

Tickets purchased for events hosted by AboutFace-USA, including fundraising events such as comedy shows, workshops, and other gatherings, are non-refundable, except under specific circumstances outlined below.

2.2 Refund Eligibility

Refunds for event tickets may be considered in the following circumstances:

Event Cancellation: If AboutFace-USA cancels the event for any reason, ticket holders will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer their ticket to a rescheduled date, if applicable.
Event Postponement: If an event is postponed, ticket holders will be given the option to transfer their ticket to the new date or request a full refund.
Unable to Attend Due to Illness (COVID-19 Related): In the case of illness, particularly related to COVID-19, attendees may request a refund or transfer their ticket to another individual by contacting us at least 48 hours before the event.

Refunds will not be issued for:

No-shows: Attendees who do not attend the event or do not notify us of their inability to attend within the required timeframe.
Inclement Weather: If the event proceeds as scheduled despite weather conditions, no refunds will be issued for non-attendance.
Personal Scheduling Conflicts: We are unable to offer refunds for scheduling conflicts that arise after ticket purchase.

2.3 Ticket Transfers

Tickets may be transferred to another individual if you are unable to attend. To transfer a ticket, please contact us at events@aboutface-usa.org at least 48 hours prior to the event with the full name and contact details of the person who will be using the ticket. AboutFace-USA reserves the right to deny ticket transfers that are requested less than 48 hours before the event.

2.4 VIP and Sponsor Tickets

VIP and Sponsor tickets are subject to the same refund and transfer policies outlined above. If you are a sponsor and are unable to attend the event, please contact us to discuss transfer options or sponsor recognition adjustments.

2.5 Requesting a Refund

To request a refund for event tickets (in cases where refunds are eligible), please contact us at events@aboutface-usa.org with the following information:

Full name and contact details.
Event name and date.
Ticket purchase details (confirmation number, amount, etc.).
Reason for requesting the refund.

Refund requests must be made within 30 days of the event date. Approved refunds will be processed through the original payment method within 10 business days.

Additional Considerations for Refunds

3.1 Processing Fees

Please note that any processing fees or transaction charges incurred during the original payment may not be refunded, depending on the payment platform used (e.g., credit card processing fees). AboutFace-USA will make every effort to minimize fees for refunds.

3.2 Force Majeure

In the event that an AboutFace-USA event is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g., natural disasters, government restrictions, pandemics), we will do our best to reschedule the event or provide alternative solutions. In these cases, refunds may not be issued unless required by law.

3.3 No Refund for Partial Attendance

If you attend an event but choose to leave early or do not participate in all scheduled activities, no partial refunds will be issued. Full refunds are only available under the circumstances specified in Section 2.2.

Refund Processing and Timeline

Refund requests submitted and approved will be processed within 30 days of submission, following internal reviews and approval by the accounting team.
- Refunds are typically returned to the original payment method used during the purchase, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
- Refunds for donations, where applicable, will only be made for clear, demonstrable errors (e.g., double processing, incorrect amounts). Charitable donations are generally not refundable
Donation and Sponsorship Refund Exceptions

Please note that sponsorships and donations are generally non-refundable, except in the case of clear processing errors. By submitting your sponsorship or donation, you acknowledge and accept this policy.

For any event-related refunds (e.g., ticket sales, sponsorship benefits), specific refund windows will be clearly outlined in event-specific terms.
